Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley

Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines through the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offenses.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution .

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be hazardous.

"These types of products being sold, generally online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their security.

"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More notably, you do not understand the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
